Foundation of C.A.R.E. Boot Camp – Washtenaw Community College

Launch your healthcare career! C.A.R.E. stands for Caring for the Aging Responsibly through Education. This accelerated two-week healthcare training program provides skills needed for direct patient care and may include opportunities for paid on-the-job training and connections with healthcare employers.

Ann Arbor Public Schools – Free GED Preparation

Free GED preparation is available through Ann Arbor Public Schools Adult Education. Daytime and evening in-person classes are offered, along with virtual and online options. You do not need to be an Ann Arbor resident to inquire about enrollment.

Classes are offered at multiple locations in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area.

Washtenaw Community College (WCC) – Adult Transitions GED Program

WCC offers GED preparation to help students build academic skills, prepare for the GED test, explore careers, and transition to college or employment. Services include individual tutoring, GED practice testing, test-taking strategies, career planning, and college/job skills development.

Daytime and evening, virtual and in-person classes are available.

English as a Second Language (ESL)

WCC also offers free ESL classes for adults who want to improve English speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and pronunciation.

Advance Washtenaw – Washtenaw Community College

Advance Washtenaw helps high school students and adult learners prepare for high-demand careers through short-term certificate programs, career coaching, employer connections, and financial support for eligible students. Programs include welding, computer networking, cybersecurity, automotive service, autobody repair, robotics, automation, and computer systems technology.

Students receive individualized support with career planning, placement testing, financial aid, resumes and interviews, and may have opportunities for paid internships, apprenticeships, and job shadowing.

Washtenaw Literacy – Free Adult Tutoring

Washtenaw Literacy provides free tutoring for adults age 16 and older who live, work, volunteer, or attend school in Washtenaw County. Tutors can help with:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Math
  • English as a Second Language (ESL)
  • Digital/computer skills
  • GED preparation and other education goals

Tutoring is available in person and online. Personal tutoring is available, and free drop-in Community Tutoring sessions are also offered at locations throughout Washtenaw County.

The Women’s Center of Southeastern Michigan

Provides counseling, education, support, and economic empowerment services for individuals age 16 and older. Services are open to women, gender-diverse individuals, older teens, and men. No one is turned away because of an inability to pay.
